Lord Karthikeya, also known as Murugan, Skanda, and Subramanya, is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and the brother of Lord Ganesha. Revered as the god of war, he symbolizes youth, power, and victory over evil. Karthikeya is predominantly worshiped in South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where he is considered the "God of the Tamil people." He is also widely worshipped in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries with Tamil communities.

The most significant temples dedicated to him are the six abodes known as Arupadai Veedu, located in Tamil Nadu. Palani, one of these abodes, is particularly significant, attracting thousands of devotees annually. Murals and icons of Karthikeya often depict him riding a peacock, wielding a spear, and sometimes with six heads, symbolizing his mastery over the six senses.
